Driver’s License Translation in Tashkent: What to Check
Before translating a driver’s license, confirm the destination rules, required sides, certification, name spelling, vehicle categories, and whether an IDP is needed.
A translation of a national driver’s license may be requested by a rental company, insurer, traffic authority, employer, court, or immigration office. It is not automatically an international driving permit and does not by itself grant permission to drive in another country.
Ask the destination authority whether it accepts a translation, requires a specific certification, needs an international driving permit, or requires conversion to a local license.
Send both sides and supporting details
- Front and back of the license in full color
- Passport identity page for the reference spelling
- Destination country and receiving organization
- All vehicle categories, restrictions, issue and expiry dates
- Any official requirement for notarization or translator certification
- A clear photo of holograms or faint fields if they contain readable data
Fields that need careful review
Check surname, given name, date and place of birth, license number, issuing authority, validity, category codes, restriction codes, and address where present. Category letters should be reproduced, not interpreted as permission in the destination country.
Translation versus international driving permit
These are different things. An international driving permit is issued under the applicable official system and is generally used together with the national license. A translation is a language rendering of the document. Which one you need depends on the destination’s current rules and the purpose of use.
Before ordering
- Check the official driving or rental requirements for the destination.
- Confirm the accepted language and certification form.
- Send uncropped images of both sides and the passport spelling.
- Review every category, restriction, number, and date.
- Carry the original license with any translation or permit as required.
Common misunderstandings
A notarized translation does not extend an expired license, change its categories, or guarantee that a rental company will release a vehicle. Rules can differ between a national authority and a private rental provider, so check both.
Request an accurate license translation
Upload both sides and the recipient’s requirements through the translation request form. Profy Translations will confirm scope, certification, cost, and turnaround.
